ODP’s Online Learning Management System

The Idaho Office of Drug Policy (ODP) is pleased to provide free online courses via our Learning Management System (LMS). These courses are designed to help Idaho prevention providers earn the education hours required to obtain a Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) credential. Additionally, the LMS also houses the two courses for the Provisional Prevention Specialist (PPS) credential, which is required for PFS & SABG grantees.

PPS Courses

ODP has maintained two, free, self-paced courses for registered participants that comprise the PPS credential.

Fundamentals of Prevention (5 hours)

CPS Courses

In June 2021, ODP added eight additional Strategic Prevention Framework-focused courses to support Idahoan’s efforts to earn CPS education hours:

The Strategic Prevention Framework: A Practical Application (3 hours)
Planning and Evaluation (4 hours)
Identifying Evidence-Based Policies, Programs, and Environmental Strategies (3 hours)
Implementing Direct Service Programs with Fidelity (3 hours)
Principles of Community Organization for the Prevention Specialist (6 hours)
Principles of the Environmental Approach to the Prevention Specialist (3 hours)
Capacity and Readiness for Prevention with Special Populations (3 hours)
Sustainability and the Prevention Profession (4 hours)

LMS Registration

Go to www.odplms.tovuti.io/ and select the “Register” button in the upper right corner. If your organization is a current recipient of the PFS or SABG funds, use the “Grantee Registration” option. All others will use the “General Registration” option.

These instructions provide guidance on accessing online courses, viewing transcripts, and downloading certificates of completion.

Regional

Northwest Center for Public Health Practice (NWCPHP) develops public health training courses and exercises for practice-based continuing education. Activities include short- and long-term courses and exercises in both on-site and distance learning formats.
Northwest Prevention Technology Transfer Center Network (PTTC) offers trainings, events, moderated sessions, and educational resources.
- NWPTTC also offers additional online learning & continuing education courses for health and behavioral health professionals vis their HealtheKnowledge learning portal.

National

Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA) offers free online courses at www.cadca.org/onlinecourses
Campus Drug Prevention provides a free online web series on Prevention with a Purpose: A Strategic Planning Guide for Preventing Drug Misuse Among College Students
Opioid Response Network (ORN) – The ORN has local consultants in all 50 states and nine territories to respond to local needs by providing free educational resources and training to states, communities, and individuals in the prevention, treatment, and recovery of opioid use disorders and stimulant use.
Providers Clinical Support System (PCSS) – PCSS’s mission is to increase healthcare providers’ knowledge and skills in the prevention, identification, and treatment of substance use disorders with a focus on opioid use disorders.
Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) – SAMHSA’s practitioner training offers tools, training, and technical assistance to practitioners in the fields of mental health and substance use disorders.
